DOODLES
Sharpie on Painted Canvas, 2016-2017
Overview:
I used to watch my mother doodle on paper as she chatted on the phone catching up with her girlfriends. She would make these repetitive shapes, and go over them over and over making multiple lines and multiple shapes. I found a beauty in this rhythm and may have taken this as a way to relax as I entered high school making these mindless repetitive doodles all over my hand-outs. As I studied for my first undergrad degree, in Fine Arts, I challenged myself to bring my juvenile doodle to an elegant and fine arts standards. Larger scale, the better!
Each piece took me multiple hours to complete over the course of weeks. Creating an interesting blend of doodle style and mashup, depending on my current mood and what I was escaping in my zen doodle meditation.
